About

Lee and Zoobia are standing in Ladywood, as they both care deeply about the people of the area and feel it’s time that Ladywood had genuine representation.
Like many Liberal Democrats Councillors and Councils across the country, we believe that your representatives should be engaged with and responsive to the community they serve. This means listening and acting upon the priorities of the people and business of Ladywood. One of the most pressing matters is the regeneration scheme that has been riven with a lack of real consultation with residents and businesses since the start. There is very little trust with the Council and Developer, which will only be improved if the concerns and asks of Ladywood residents and businesses are engaged with.
Whilst we have our own priorities, which you can read about on this website and come and talk to us about, we also understand that we are here to help represent the views and ideas of the residents who vote for us.
Birmingham is currently going through many crises, and we know that the people of Ladywood are strong, proud and willing to stand up and fight for what they believe in. Voting for Lee and Zoobia will give you two people who will not forget that, if elected – they answer to you!
More about Lee
I am passionate about Birmingham and proud to campaign and fight elections in my home of Ladywood. Residents often tell me that they are tired of a complacent Labour taking their votes for granted – and I relish giving them more choice in elections.
I have long campaigned for Mental Health service provision to receive full equality with physical health – a journey started by the LibDems in government, and one we must continue. Social Care is in crisis and carers urgently need fair wages and better support. All of this means that we have a big mountain to climb, but I have been lucky to meet some inspirational people across Birmingham who are working to make this happen, and I continue to support them.
I’m a qualified Teacher and so very much aware of the pressures faced by teachers and staff, as well as students. I support young people in various ways, such as helping them grow their campaigning experience and supporting them standing for election.
I also believe it’s vital that our environmental protections are strengthened, and that civil liberties for LGBT+, BME and others are protected and improved. Finally – the most important change I want to bring to Ladywood’s elected representatives is genuine engagement and responsiveness. There will be times we disagree, but that shouldn’t stop me listening, or you demanding better for you, your families, and your area.
More about Zoobia
As a dedicated healthcare worker, I’ve spent my career caring for people at their most vulnerable, now I want to bring that same compassion and determination to fight for Ladywood.
Our community deserves so much better than being ignored by a complacent council and failed by government inaction.
In Ladywood, we need safer streets, proper investment in youth services, mental health support that actually reaches those in crisis, and a real plan to tackle the cost of living pressures hurting families.
I’m standing because I know how to listen, how to care, and crucially how to get things done. From fixing broken local services to championing our NHS, I’ll be a councillor who fights for the changes we actually need, because in Ladywood, every voice matters and no one should be left behind.
Representation people of all backgrounds is important to me, and I understand some of the challenges that people face – especially when they’re held back by bigotry or injustice. I want to make sure that everyone has a fair chance in life, with a right to good housing, good public services, and a fair shot in life. Ladwyood has a lot to offer, and it’s people are passionate and strong, and I want to make sure their voices are not just head, but recognised, accepted, and supported.
